I really like the new Gmail themes now available: they make Yahoo Mail look so passé.
The terminal theme is particularly interesting, a product of a bet, it’s really well done, right down to the ASCII art for the Gmail logo.
Gmail with terminal theme under Prism on Ubuntu
This would be handy for us who still use green screens as you could run Gmail Terminal in Prism to keep your webmailing at work discrete. Not that I would condone such behaviour :P
While I dig the Terminal theme (ASCII logo!), there are some small design flaws. The chat status icons are hardly distinguishable (online, busy, idle, etc) and the yellow stars are barely yellow. I think after a while I will start getting dizzy.
I’m a favorite for the Minimalist theme which does not have the design flaws and offers the minimalist look I’ve always wanted on Gmail. Now let’s get these themes carried across all Google products!
I agree, the Minimalist theme is nice, and we definitely need themes for all Google products. Calendar, docs, reader all look really plain now in comparison!
