  1. Nice work Alister. Your creativity knows no bounds….

Warms my heart to see Fortran is not forgotten; I resigned from Watirfort some time ago, but glad to see some of my rellies are still hard at it..!!

  2. I have been waiting for 30 years for this! FORTRAN was my first programming language. Now I can die happy.

  4. Ah, the nostalgia of punch cards, I can see myself dropping a deck of them now. Anyone remember Cobol programs that had OUTPUT of punch cards? I started out my programming career refactoring those to produce – yes – huge printouts on that green folding paper.

  5. i’m really disappointed in this project. it’s not object oriented, no support for oo cobol, and how do you deal with behavior driven design with the monkeys?

behavior modified design? with positive reinforcement?

  6. Nice post. :)

Back in the WTR days, I imagined it would be nice to have a library that supported all sorts of languages. I played around with SmallTalk a bit, but I couldn’t drive IE as easily as I could with Ruby. I bet someone could probably support this if you dared the right person. :)

  7. I laughed… much

Still remember seeing a compsci student at WWU nearly have a nervous breakdown when he was running across red square and dropped his deck (it must have been like 18 inches tall

Waiting for WATIP (no not Pascal, PL/1!!)

or WATIHPTSB (HP Timeshare Basic.. you write the code on punchtape with a teletype)

damm the really sad part is that if you’d have done this for Cobol intead of Fortran, I actually know people I could have sent it to who might not have gotten that it was a joke till you hit the monkeys
